“‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’” - 2 Kings 6:16

When you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, something changes. You are given a sixth sense, if you will. That sense is the Holy Spirit. It is something that is only available to Christ followers.

It is what allowed Elisha to stay calm in the storm as the enemy surrounded his home in 2 Kings 6:16. Elisha knew the Word which allowed him to interpret his world. His servant, on the other hand, was paranoid, panicking, and freaking out.

When the servant comes to Elisha freaking out, Elisha does not give him a list of things to do. Instead, he tells the servant what not to do. 2 Kings 6:16 says, “‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’”

Elisha is telling him not to be afraid. The servant is seeing a surrounded city through his natural eyes. Sight, smell, sound, touch, and taste - five senses through which we interpret information. But this is where believers are different; they have a sixth sense, and this is not about seeing dead people.

The moment you gave your life to Jesus Christ, you got the Holy Ghost living inside of you that allows you to operate in the supernatural. The servant was interpreting being surrounded through the natural, while Elisha was looking at the situation through the supernatural.

One is saying, “what do we do?” The other says, “don’t be afraid.” And in the midst of all of this, you’ll notice something about the way this prayer is stated. Elisha, with a calmness and confidence in God, said “O, Lord, open the eyes of his heart.”

Are your eyes opened to the heart of God? Do you have the sixth sense inside of you? When trouble comes about, are you quick to panic, or quick to trust God? Are you like the servant or like Elisha? Where does your faith lie?
