You Were Not Made To Do This Alone
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” - Hebrews 10:24-25
Community is not optional in the Christian life. The writer of Hebrews makes this clear: do not neglect meeting together. This is not a suggestion for people who enjoy socializing. It is a command rooted in the understanding that we need each other. We grow faster together than we ever could alone. We stay accountable together. We bear burdens together. We celebrate together. And we keep each other moving toward Jesus together.
One of the enemy’s most effective strategies is isolation. He knows that a Christian alone is a Christian vulnerable. When you pull away from community, whether out of hurt, busyness, or pride, you cut yourself off from one of the primary ways God delivers grace into your life: through other people. The body of Christ is not perfect. Your church family will disappoint you sometimes. But imperfect community is still infinitely better than polished isolation. Show up. Lean in. Let people know you and love you.
Reach out to someone in your church or small group this week and intentionally invest in the relationship. Have coffee, pray together, or simply send a message letting them know you are thinking of them. Stir them up toward love.
Father, thank You for the gift of community. Forgive me for the times I have pulled away or chosen isolation over connection. Help me be the kind of person who shows up for others and lets others show up for me. Knit us together in love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
