“Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.” - Proverbs 27:9

It requires both wisdom and love to give counsel that truly helps.

Some of the most pivotal moments in my life have come through earnest counsel from wise friends. When I was struggling with a difficult decision about ministry direction, a mentor sat with me for hours, asked probing questions, and helped me see perspectives I had missed. His counsel was like a light in the darkness, bringing clarity and peace to my heart. I try to offer that same kind of thoughtful counsel to others when they seek my advice.

Lord, thank You for the wise counselors You have placed in my life. Help me be that kind of friend to others, offering earnest counsel that comes from Your wisdom and my love for them.
