The wisdom we gain in life is not meant to be hoarded but shared with the next generation. Our legacy is not what we accomplish but what we pass on.

The Psalmist understood that each generation has a responsibility to tell the next generation about God’s faithfulness. We are not just living for ourselves but for those who will come after us. This changes how we approach life. We make decisions not just based on immediate consequences but on long-term impact.

Legacy is not just for famous people or those with great wealth. Every person leaves a legacy through the lives they touch and the example they set. Parents leave a legacy for their children. Teachers leave a legacy for their students. Pastors leave a legacy for their congregations. The question is not whether we will leave a legacy but what kind of legacy it will be.

My grandfather was not a wealthy or famous man, but he left a powerful legacy of faith and integrity. He faithfully attended church, served his community, and treated everyone with respect. Years after his death, people still talk about his character and the way he lived out his faith. His legacy continues to influence my life and ministry today, and I hope to pass on that same kind of faithful example to my children and grandchildren.

Think about the legacy you are building. What do you want to be remembered for? What values and truths do you want to pass on to the next generation? Take one concrete step today toward building the legacy you want to leave.

Lord, help me live with eternity in mind, building a legacy that honors You and blesses future generations. Give me wisdom to make decisions that will have positive long-term impact. Use my life to point others to You, and help me faithfully pass on the truths You have taught me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
