When You Cannot See The Path
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
There is a difference between knowing a verse and living a verse. Most of us have heard Proverbs 3:5-6 so many times that we can recite it without thinking. But reciting it and actually surrendering our understanding to God are two very different things. Trusting God with all your heart means releasing your grip on the outcome. It means choosing to believe that He sees what you cannot see and knows what you do not know.
Think about Abraham. God told him to leave his home, his family, and everything familiar, and go to a land that God would show him. That is it. No GPS coordinates. No detailed itinerary. Just a promise and a direction. And yet Hebrews 11:8 tells us he obeyed, even though he did not know where he was going. That is what trust looks like in practice. It is not passive resignation. It is active, forward-moving faith in a God who has never once failed to keep His word. When you cannot see the path, trust the One who laid it.
Is there a decision you have been overthinking, turning over and over in your mind without peace? Today, take that decision to God in prayer and physically open your hands as a posture of surrender. Ask Him to guide your next step, and then commit to following His lead even when you do not have every answer.
Lord, I confess that I lean on my own understanding more than I lean on You. Forgive me for trying to figure everything out on my own. Today I choose to trust You with the parts of my life I cannot control. Make my paths straight, and help me follow You even when I cannot see what is ahead. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
