“In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man named Joseph, of the house of David” (Luke 1:26-7).

Have you ever felt like you’re looking for something in life that can’t be found? Perhaps you remember feeling that way a lot before you accepted Christ. But even now, do you find yourself feeling like you’re searching for answers to questions that seem to have no answer, or you’re waiting for a blessing that hasn’t happened yet?

As Christians, we often feel guilty for searching for answers because we know that Jesus is the ultimate answer. Sometimes we even feel guilty for waiting for a blessing when we know that the Lord has already blessed us tremendously.

It’s natural to wonder. It’s okay to have questions about your future and desire blessings from your Father.

After all, everyone is looking for something.

It seems that around this time of year, everyone starts looking a little more intently for wonderous things to happen. There’s something about Christmastime that seems to soften the heart and broaden the mind. It invites us to wonder and dream. It makes us believe in miracles a little more. People marvel at everything around them and wait with anticipation for answers, blessings, and dreams to fall from the sky like snow.

There’s a certain mystery that Christmas brings every year. It’s no wonder that Paul refers to Christ as “God’s mystery” and reminds us in Colossians that “All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him” (2:3). Christ is the greatest mystery of Christmas, and the one we are meant to find, not only for the purpose of salvation, but for all things in life.

As we enter this season and you feel the excitement of miracles and wonder, don’t forget to ask the Lord what He wants to teach you during this season. What does He want you to notice? What knowledge does He want to pour out for you? Who does He want you to help today? Don’t forget that we, His children, could be the answers to someone else’s prayer or plea for a miracle.

Everyone’s busy looking for something at Christmas. What are you looking for? Don’t forget that He is our cause for celebration and the reason why we get so swept away by the majesty and glory of this season.

Search for Him in all things-He has treasures stored up that we can’t even imagine, and in Him alone we will truly find the wonders we are looking for.
