“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” - Hebrews 13:8

October has a way of reminding us that everything changes. The temperature drops, the days get shorter, and the familiar rhythm of summer gives way to something new. Change can be exciting, but it can also be unsettling. Many of us are walking into this month carrying uncertainty about our health, our families, our finances, or our futures. And when everything around us feels like it is shifting, we need something solid to stand on.

The writer of Hebrews was not writing to people who had it all figured out. He was writing to men and women who were being pressured to walk away from their faith, who were watching their world get rearranged by persecution and hardship. Into that chaos, he planted one unshakable truth: Jesus does not change. The same Christ who healed the sick, raised the dead, and walked out of a tomb on the third day is the same Christ who is present with you today. His character does not fluctuate with the news cycle. His love does not depend on your performance. His power is not diminished by your circumstances. When the ground beneath you feels unsteady, He is the rock that holds.

Start this month with a simple but powerful exercise. Write down three things in your life that feel uncertain right now. Then, next to each one, write this phrase: “But God does not change.” Let that truth be your anchor for the rest of this month.

Father, thank You that You are not moved by what moves me. When my world feels unstable, remind me that You are the same God who has always been faithful. Root my heart in You this month. I trust You with everything that feels uncertain. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
