“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” - Ephesians 6:11

Have you ever wondered what the schemes of the devil actually look like? It’s not just random attacks. It’s a calculated strategy where he uses your own tendencies against you. The devil knows your cravings. He knows your triggers. And he’s ready to use them to keep you from living in victory.

Think about it. The way you see and experience life shapes how you respond to everything. Your perspective becomes your reality. And if your perspective is based on lies, you’ll keep falling into the same traps over and over. That’s what the devil is counting on.

From the very beginning, the enemy’s playbook has been the same. In the Garden of Eden, he told Adam and Eve to focus on the one thing they couldn’t have instead of the countless blessings God had given them. His strategy was simple. “Keep your eye on the one thing you can’t have and miss out on everything God wants to give you.”

And he still does the same thing today. He uses your triggers to get your focus off of God’s truth. He whispers lies that if something feels good, then it must be good. But your feelings aren’t always telling you the truth. Your feelings can lead you to try to fulfill legitimate needs in illegitimate ways. And even though it might feel good in the moment, it always leads to pain.

The enemy knows your weaknesses, but here’s the good news. God’s power is greater. Ephesians 6:11 tells us to “Put on the whole armor of God.” That means being intentional about clothing yourself in His truth, His righteousness, His peace, and His strength. It means recognizing where the enemy is trying to manipulate your triggers and surrendering those areas to God.

You don’t have to keep falling for the same tricks. When you choose to put on the armor of God, you are equipped to see through the enemy’s schemes and walk in victory. Don’t let your triggers become traps. Instead, let God turn them into testimonies.
