Every single day, you’re faced with a choice. And it’s a choice that shapes everything about your life. Will you please God, or will you please yourself? That’s it. Those are the only two options.

If you’re honest, living for yourself sounds like freedom. You get to do what feels good, chase what makes you happy, and make your own rules. But the problem is, that kind of freedom is a lie. It’s a trap that leaves you empty and searching for more. No matter how much you chase after what pleases you, it’s never enough. And the more you feed your own desires, the further you drift from the life God is trying to give you.

Romans 8:7 makes it clear. “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law, indeed, it cannot.” When you live only to please yourself, your heart is constantly at war with God’s will. You can’t walk in the fullness of what God has for you when you’re still clinging to your own way.

But when you choose to please God, everything changes. Choosing to please Him means surrendering your own desires and trusting His will above your own. It means filling the gaps in your life with His truth instead of your own wants. It’s not about living a perfect life. It’s about living a surrendered one.

Jesus came to give you life, and life more abundantly. But that life only comes when you choose to please Him. When you choose His way over your own. When you stop chasing what feels good and start pursuing what is good.

Today, you have a choice. Will you live to please yourself, or will you live to please God? Only one path leads to the abundant life you’re looking for. The question is, which one will you choose?
