Rest In Your Identity
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” - 1 John 3:1
Before you do anything else this Sunday, let this truth settle deep into your heart: you are a child of God. Not because of what you accomplished this week. Not because of how well you performed or how consistent your quiet time was. Simply because of His love. John is almost breathless in this verse. “See what kind of love,” he writes, as if he cannot quite find words big enough to contain it. The Father’s love for you is not a small thing. It is staggering.
As you rest today and reflect on this second week of devotions, carry this truth with you: your identity is secure. The world will try to tell you that your value is tied to your productivity, your appearance, or your status. But the gospel tells a different story. You are a child of the King. That is not a title you can earn or lose. It is who you are. Rest in that. Let it change how you walk into tomorrow.
Before the week begins, write down this statement and place it where you will see it every morning: “I am a child of God, and His love for me is not based on my performance.” Let it be the first truth you speak over yourself each day.
Father, thank You for calling me Your child. I do not deserve that title, but You gave it to me freely through Jesus. Help me live from that place of security this week. I am Yours, and You are mine. That is more than enough. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
