“But we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.” - Romans 5:3-4

Nobody signs up for suffering. If you could skip the pain, you probably would. But suffering has a way of shaping us, deepening us, and bringing a kind of growth that comfort never could. And even more than that, suffering can be a stage where God is glorified.

It is not that God delights in watching you hurt. He is not distant or cold toward your pain. He is near. He weeps with those who weep. But He also works through it. Your struggle might not make sense to you right now, but it is not wasted. God can use what you are walking through to point others to who He is. Your story, even the hardest parts, can reflect His grace, His strength, and His faithfulness.

Sometimes it is in our most broken seasons that people see God the clearest in us. When everything around you says you should be falling apart, but instead you cling to peace, people take notice. When you keep praising even when the blessing has not come, that glorifies God. When you refuse to give up, even while you are still hurting, that is strength the world cannot explain.

Suffering forces us to rely on God in ways we wouldn’t if everything came easy. It pulls us in closer. It deepens our faith. It develops a trust that is not based on circumstances but on who God is. And when the world sees that kind of faith, it points them back to the One holding you together.

So if you are in a season of pain right now, do not believe the lie that it is all for nothing. God is at work in your struggle. He is near. And He is using your life, even in this, to draw others to Himself.

Let your pain have purpose. Let your trial produce testimony. And let your life, even in suffering, bring glory to the One who never stops holding you.
