“Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” - Ephesians 3:20

Many people approach prayer with caution. You ask for what feels reasonable, safe, or manageable. You pray within the boundaries of what seems possible because disappointment feels easier to handle than daring faith. Over time, that habit shrinks your expectations and convinces you that God only works on a small scale. Scripture paints a very different picture. The God who formed the universe and raised Jesus from the dead is not limited by your imagination. He invites you to believe for more than you think is possible.

When you look through the Bible, you find stories of ordinary people who prayed bold prayers. Their circumstances were impossible, their resources were limited, and their understanding was small, yet they took their needs to a God who had no limits. Their confidence did not come from themselves. It came from knowing who they were talking to. Faith began to rise when they stopped sizing God according to their situation and started sizing their situation according to God.

Small prayers can become the default when life feels heavy or uncertain. Fear whispers that you should lower your expectations. Past disappointment tells you not to hope too deeply. But faith grows in the space where you stretch your trust. When you choose to pray bigger, your heart starts shifting. Courage grows. Perspective expands. You begin to see God as He truly is, not as your circumstances describe Him.

This does not mean treating prayer like a wishlist or assuming God will grant every desire the way you frame it. Bigger prayers come from a place of surrender. They acknowledge God’s power while submitting to His wisdom. They say, “Lord, I believe You are able, and I trust You with the outcome.” That kind of posture strengthens your faith even before the answer arrives.

Take a moment today and look at the places in your life where your prayers have become too safe. Invite God into the areas you have been hesitant to bring to Him. Ask Him for what seems unreachable. Trust Him with the details you cannot fix. Your situation may feel large, but your God is larger. You grow when your prayers stretch beyond comfort and step into faith. God can do far more than you ask or imagine, and He delights in meeting you at the edge of belief.
