Peace That Stays with You

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” - John 14:27

There is a kind of peace that does not fade with the weather. It is not tied to the mood of your boss or the status of your bank account. It is not based on whether your kids are behaving or whether the world feels fair. This peace is steady. It holds you up when everything else falls down. It quiets the noise even when the chaos doesn’t stop. It is the peace of God.

Some people have never felt this kind of peace. What they know is momentary relief or temporary distractions. But the peace that Jesus gives is not like that. It is not an escape from reality; it is strength within it. The peace Jesus offers can exist even in the middle of pain, grief, uncertainty, and loss. It is not the absence of problems; it is the presence of Jesus.

Maybe you’ve been searching for peace in a changed circumstance, in a break from responsibility, or in getting things just right. But peace is not found in perfect days. It is found in a perfect Savior. Jesus said, “My peace I give to you.” That means it is not something you earn, it is something He hands you when you choose to trust Him.

And that is the key. You don’t find this peace by trying harder or wishing more. You find it when you open your heart to the One who never leaves. When you believe that Jesus is who He says He is, and you let Him carry what is too heavy for you. Peace starts taking root when you release control and rest in the love of God.

You can live with that kind of peace. You can walk through storms and still have steady steps. You can be unsure of what comes next and still not be shaken. That is what it means to have peace that sustains you. And if you are in Christ, that peace is already yours.
