Never Has Been But Can Be

“Who has made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?” - Exodus 4:11

Moses had always struggled with his speech. He wasn’t good with words, and he believed that because he had never been good at speaking, he never would be. When God called him to speak to Pharaoh, Moses immediately assumed that his history with speech issues would define his future. He couldn’t see beyond his past failures or his weaknesses, so he doubted God’s call on his life.

You might feel the same way in your own life. Maybe you’ve struggled with an addiction for years, or you find yourself failing in the same way over and over. You might feel like you’ve always been this way, so you’ll always be this way. The patterns seem unbreakable, the struggles unshakable, and it’s easy to believe that nothing will ever change. But here’s the truth: just because you’ve never been able to overcome something in the past doesn’t mean it will always be that way.

God is the one who created you. He knows your weaknesses, your struggles, and your patterns. But He is not limited by your past, and He doesn’t define you by what you’ve been able to do or not do so far. God is in the business of breaking patterns and changing lives. Just as He told Moses that He was the one who made his mouth, He is the one who can change your circumstances, your struggles, and your patterns.

Jesus is the one who has the power to break the chains that hold you back. He is the one who can heal what’s broken and restore what’s been lost. If you’re caught in a pattern of failure or struggle, remember that it’s not your past that determines your future. It’s the power of God at work in your life that can bring transformation.

Don’t let your history define you. You don’t have to stay stuck in the same cycle. Trust in the God who made you, the one who can take your weaknesses and turn them into a testimony of His strength. What you’ve never been able to do on your own, God can do through you. He’s the God of change, and He’s ready to break the pattern in your life.
