Longing For More

March 24, 20232 min read

“His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.” - 2 Peter 1:3

What are you longing for? With social media the way it is now, people are constantly longing for something. They want so-and-so’s home, or so-and-so’s car, or so-and-so’s lifestyle. They want his shoes or her wardrobe. They want that celebrity’s influence and the other celebrity’s boyfriend.

It is so easy to long for more and to want what we don’t have when we combine all the different things others have. But this is not the life God has called us to live. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence.”

See, God will give us everything we need (and then some). He makes sure all your needs are taken care of as you pursue His plan and purpose for your life. The problem comes when we desire and step outside of what God has for us.

From before you were even born, God had a plan for your life. His plan for you is greater than anything you could imagine or make for yourself. Unfortunately, far too often we think we know better than God. And we start to eye things we want that don’t align with what God wants for us.

But He always knows what is best. And He will provide what is best according to His good and perfect plan. Let God provide what you need when you need it. He will always come through. We get in trouble when we try to go ahead and get what we want outside of His will.

The next time you are longing for more, remember more isn’t always better. Submit to God’s will and trust Him to provide for all your needs!
