Living Desperately for God in Everything We Do

June 14, 20232 min read

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” - Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

As believers in Christ, we often talk about being “desperate for God,” but what does that really mean in our day-to-day lives? How does being desperate for God change the way we approach our daily tasks and routines?

To be desperate for God means that we are seeking Him above all else. It means that we are actively pursuing His will for our lives and that we are willing to surrender our own plans and desires in order to follow Him.

In our daily tasks and routines, being desperate for God means that we approach each task with a spirit of prayer and dependence on Him. It means that we seek His guidance and wisdom as we make decisions throughout the day and that we remain open to the leading of His Spirit.

Being desperate for God also means that we approach our work with a different mindset. Rather than seeing our jobs as just a means to an end, we view our work as an opportunity to glorify God and serve others. We strive to do our best in all that we do, knowing that we are ultimately working for Him.

When we are desperate for God, we also approach our relationships with a different attitude. We seek to love and serve others, just as Christ loved and served us. We put the needs of others before our own, and we strive to be a source of encouragement and support to those around us.

As we seek to live desperately for God, let us remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” When we prioritize our relationship with God above all else, we can trust that He will provide for our needs and guide us in all that we do.

Let us seek Him first, and trust that He will transform our daily tasks and routines, our work, and our relationships to bring Him glory and further His kingdom.
