As a believer, you can’t put on a biblical worldview like a pair of glasses, switching between “church vision” on Sundays and “world vision” the rest of the week. That’s the problem so many people face. They compartmentalize their faith, seeing life through one set of lenses at church and a completely different set at work, at home, or with friends. But when Jesus sets you free, you don’t just get new glasses, you get Lasik. Your vision is permanently changed. You can’t help but see everything through the lens of the Kingdom.

The way you see the world is shaped by your experiences, encounters, environments, and education. Your beliefs are built over time, forming the foundation for how you interpret reality. Think about how your brain develops neural pathways. When you do something repeatedly, it becomes second nature. That’s why you can drive to work, school, or church without even thinking about each turn, you’ve done it so many times that the pathway in your brain is locked in.

But here’s the danger: when your mind has been shaped by the world’s way of thinking, you start filtering truth through cognitive bias instead of seeing things as they really are. Instead of asking, “What does God say?” You interpret everything based on what you’ve been taught, how you feel, and past experiences. If you’ve been hurt before, you may assume people can’t be trusted. If you’ve been told you’re not good enough, you may see every challenge as proof that you’ll fail. The filter controls the vision.

I once went on a run in my parents’ neighborhood and ended up on the backroads of Chipley, Florida. Out of nowhere, a Rottweiler came charging at me. Now, based on everything I’ve ever seen or experienced with Rottweilers, I knew one thing; they are intimidating. Fear kicked in before I even had time to process if the dog was actually aggressive. My past shaped my reaction before I could think objectively.

That’s what happens spiritually. When your mind hasn’t been renewed by God, you see life through a filter of past pain, fears, and worldly logic. But when God transforms your mind, your vision changes. You no longer interpret life through past experiences, you see everything through the truth of His Word. And once that happens, you can’t go back. You don’t switch glasses anymore. You live with Kingdom vision.
