“This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me” - Matthew 15:8

Did you know that you can do all the right things and still miss the point? That’s what Jesus saw over and over again. People who looked the part, said the right words, showed up at the right places, but deep down were more concerned with appearances than connection. And He wasn’t impressed.

Jesus didn’t come to create better rule followers. He came to restore broken relationship. He’s not after a checklist, He’s after your heart. The danger is that we can slip into a rhythm of religion where we’re performing faith instead of living it. We know how to look spiritual but lose sight of what it means to be real with God.

You can pray out loud but never speak to Him honestly. You can raise your hands but still hold back your trust. You can read the Bible and not let it read you. Jesus sees past all of that. He’s not fooled by the mask. He knows when you’re performing, and He loves you too much to leave you there.

What He wants most is authenticity. Not polish, not perfection. Just a real heart willing to be known. He wants you when you’re full of faith and when you’re full of questions. He wants the messy moments, the honest confessions, the quiet surrender. That’s where relationship begins.

If all you’ve known is performance, then grace might feel uncomfortable at first. But there’s freedom in knowing you don’t have to earn God’s approval. You already have it in Jesus. So take off the mask. Stop acting like you’ve got everything together when you don’t. Get real with God. He’s not looking for the show. He’s looking for the real you.
