“But even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all” - Philippians 2:17

When you study Philippians, you see that Paul knew that following Jesus wasn’t going to be easy. He wrote this letter while locked in a Roman prison, with the real possibility that his death was near. And yet, he talks about being poured out like a drink offering, not with dread, but with joy. How? Because he had a faith that didn’t flinch.

A lot of people follow Jesus until it costs them something. Until it gets uncomfortable. Until sacrifice is required. But Paul didn’t flinch at the thought of sacrifice. He leaned into it. He had already settled in his heart that Jesus was worth his whole life. Nothing else compared. His comfort, his safety, his plans, his status, even his very breath. Paul had already laid it all down.

What about you? What happens when following Jesus leads you into discomfort or struggle? Do you start to doubt if you’re on the right path? Or do you remember that Jesus never called us to an easy life, but to a surrendered one? This kind of faith isn’t built overnight. It’s built in the small moments of obedience, in the daily decision to keep showing up, to keep trusting, to keep saying yes.

The world is full of people whose faith folds under pressure. But what if you became someone whose faith stood tall? Someone who didn’t flinch when it got hard. Someone who stayed faithful when others quit. That kind of faith doesn’t just happen. It’s forged in the fire of real life. And it’s strengthened when you remember who you belong to and what He’s already done for you.

Jesus gave His everything for you. So give Him everything in return. Even when it costs you. Even when it’s uncomfortable. That’s the kind of faith that lasts. That’s the kind of faith that impacts the world. That’s the kind of faith that doesn’t flinch.
