“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” - Ephesians 2:8

Have you ever made a mistake that you just can’t seem to forgive yourself for? Maybe it’s something you said to a friend that you regret, or a decision you made that had unintended consequences. Whatever it is, it’s weighing heavy on your heart, and you just can’t seem to let it go.

But here’s the truth: if Jesus can extend His grace and forgiveness to us, why can’t we extend that same grace and forgiveness to ourselves?

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:8 that “by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” We didn’t earn our salvation; it was freely given to us by God’s grace. And if God can extend His grace to us, even though we don’t deserve it, why can’t we extend that same grace to ourselves?

When we hold onto our mistakes and refuse to extend grace to ourselves, we are essentially saying that our sin is too great for even God’s grace to cover. But that’s simply not true. God’s grace is infinite and there is no sin too great that it cannot be covered by His grace and forgiveness.

So, I want to encourage you today to extend grace to yourself. Let go of the mistakes of the past and choose to forgive yourself, just as Jesus has forgiven you. It may not be easy, but it’s necessary for your own emotional and spiritual well-being.

Remember, extending grace to ourselves is not about excusing our mistakes or pretending they didn’t happen. It’s about acknowledging them, learning from them, and choosing to move forward in God’s grace and forgiveness.
