Embrace Your Calling

“But he said, ‘Oh, my Lord, please send someone else.’” - Exodus 4:13

Have you ever felt like God was calling you to do something, but you couldn’t shake the thought that someone else would be better for the job? Maybe you feel unqualified, unsure, or even afraid of what it might require of you.

That’s exactly what Moses thought when God called him to go to Pharaoh and deliver His message. Moses didn’t see himself as the right person for the task. He wanted God to pick someone else-someone more capable, someone with better skills, someone who didn’t struggle with speech.

It’s easy to relate to Moses in these moments. How many times have you hesitated or tried to avoid something God has called you to simply because you didn’t think you were the right person for the job? Maybe it’s leading a small group, stepping into a new role at work, or even something as simple as having a tough conversation with a friend. Our natural tendency is to look at our weaknesses and our limitations and think, “God, surely someone else would be better suited for this.”

But God doesn’t make mistakes when He calls you. Remember, He doesn’t call the equipped; He equips the called. Just like He chose Moses, who doubted his ability, God is calling you to step into something that may seem bigger than you. And it’s in those moments of doubt that God shows up the strongest.

When we try to avoid what God has called us to, we miss out on His plan for our lives. It’s in the stepping out, the obedience, and the trust in His strength that we see God’s power displayed. We may not always feel ready or able, but that’s when God’s faithfulness shines brightest. He doesn’t want someone else to fulfill your purpose. He wants you to embrace the calling He has placed on your life because He has something incredible in store for you through it.

So the next time you feel hesitant or tempted to ask God to send someone else, remember that He has uniquely prepared you for this moment. Trust Him, step out in faith, and watch how He will equip you to do what He’s called you to do. You won’t regret it.
