“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” - John 12:24

Saturday was the day Jesus was buried. His body was wrapped in linen, sealed in a tomb, and placed behind a stone too heavy for any human to move. To the world, He was gone. His story was over. His impact had ended.

Or so it seemed.

There is something about being buried that feels final. When something is placed in the ground, it is easy to believe that it will never come back. But Jesus spoke of a different kind of burial. He compared Himself to a seed, one that had to be planted in order to bring life. A seed placed in the ground looks lifeless. It looks forgotten. But under the surface, something is happening.

What if your life feels buried? What if you feel like your dreams, your purpose, or even your faith has been wrapped up and sealed away, never to rise again? Maybe you feel unseen, as if the world has moved on and left you behind. Maybe you have convinced yourself that nothing will ever change, that this is how your story ends.

But Jesus shows us that burial is not the same as being forgotten. What looks like the end is often just the beginning. The seed does not stay in the ground. It breaks open. It pushes through. It grows into something greater than it was before.

You might feel like you are in a buried season, but buried things are not forgotten things. Just because you cannot see growth does not mean it is not happening. What feels like an ending is often the very thing God will use to bring new life.

Jesus was buried, but He did not stay in the grave. Neither will you. What feels lost, what feels like it has been sealed away, what feels finished, God is not done with. The ground that holds a seed today will bring forth a harvest tomorrow. The tomb that was full on Saturday was empty by Sunday.

Burial is not the end. It is the setup for resurrection.
