“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction” - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Most people understand the idea of helping others after they’ve healed. It’s natural to think, “Once I’m through this season, I’ll share my story and encourage others.” But what about blessing someone while you’re still in the middle of your pain? That’s harder. That’s costly. And that’s where the testimony becomes even more powerful.

Pain has a way of turning us inward. It’s easy to focus on our own hurt, our own questions, our own need for relief. But when you choose to bless someone in the middle of your own struggle, you’re shifting the focus from what’s wrong to what God can still do. You’re declaring, “Even here, even now, I still have something to give.” And that choice doesn’t just bless them, it changes you.

So how do you bless others while you’re still hurting? You can start by sharing your faith in real time. Not just the polished version after the fact, but the honest, raw version that says, “I don’t have all the answers, but I know God is still good.” Your transparency gives people permission to be honest about their own pain and points them toward the same hope you’re holding onto.

You can also bless others by walking with them through their own struggles, even when yours isn’t over. Sometimes your presence in their life reminds them they’re not the only one in the valley. Offering to pray with them, check in on them, or just sit with them communicates deep compassion. Especially coming from someone who knows what pain feels like right now.

The truth is, anyone can bless others once the pain is over. But blessing others in the middle of your pain is where the light of Christ shines the brightest. It’s proof that your circumstances don’t control your capacity to love, serve, and reflect Jesus. And it’s often in those moments that God uses you in ways you never imagined, healing others while He’s still healing you.
