“I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” - Revelation 3:15-16

Let’s be real, when you read the verse above, you see those are some strong words from God. Lukewarm. Half in, half out. Riding the fence. It is easy to think that as long as we are mostly doing the right things, as long as we are not too far off, we are good. But God is clear. He does not want lukewarm. He does not want “kinda committed.” He wants all in.

Lukewarm faith is dangerous because it feels safe. It looks just spiritual enough to blend in, but it lacks the fire and power that actually transform your life. You go through the motions, show up to church, maybe say the right words, but your heart is not fully surrendered. And over time, you can lose sight of the passion and purpose that God created you for.

God is not interested in surface-level Christianity. He is not looking for casual believers. He wants disciples. People who are fully surrendered, fully engaged, and fully alive in Him. He calls you to love Him with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. Not some. Not when it is convenient. All.

The danger of lukewarm faith is that it keeps you from experiencing the full power of God’s presence. You end up settling for a watered-down version of the abundant life Jesus promised. But when you step out of lukewarm and into wholehearted pursuit of Him, everything changes. There is passion. There is clarity. There is a boldness that comes when you know you are walking closely with your Savior.

Ask yourself today: Where have I grown lukewarm? Where have I settled into comfort instead of conviction? God is not calling you out to shame you. He is calling you deeper because He loves you too much to let you stay where you are.
